Amidst all the excitement over the Blackhawks parade in Chicago today, one thing is clear: we love a good celebration. While we’re thrilled to be celebrating this victory, we’re also thrilled to have the opportunity to give to those in need by feeding people who need help both locally and in Tampa.
Last week, we backed Chicago Archbishop Blase J. Cupich in a friendly bet with Bishop Robert N. Lynch of the Diocese of St. Petersburg. The wager involved an exchange of iconic foods – Chicago-style deep dish pizza (of course) and Florida grapefruit. Although the Blackhawks took The Cup and the bet has been won, we’re still making good on our promise to help those in need. Next week, 180 of our famous deep dish pizzas will be shipped to Pinellas Hope homeless shelter, and Chicago’s St. Leo’s Residence for Veterans will also receive a delivery of hot deep dish (to enjoy with their grapefruit!)
We would like to thank the Archbishop along with the Chicago Catholic Charities for bringing awareness to the issues of hunger and homelessness. They’re doing great things to help combat these issues and we’re happy to support their good work!
